First test of Kodak ultramax 800

I’ve been playing with some random old expired high speed pro films lately and just for shits and giggles I thought I’d get some fresh Kodak ultramax 800(well I bought it last year, but it’s 2017 dated) as comparative against some fresh generic high speed film of today. I also was putting rolls through the Minolta XG-M I had just finished fixing up at the time.

I believe I ran a roll of Kodak HD400 through it first then this second (not exactly working through my scans in order here am I. haha) I am pretty happy with the results, I shot all of these with an extra stop of exposure compensation. I actually think I like the results from this nicer than ultramax 400. The negs dried nice and bright and they looked a good density, so I thought I’d share some quick scans from this test roll.

I'm quite impressed with it's sharpness for a generic consumer grade film. Shot with minolta xg-m and minolta 50mm f1.4 on Kodak ultramax 800 dated 2017 shot a stop over Home developed in Patterson hand tank with Unicolor C41 kit Scanned at home on Epson 4990

I'd even say the grain is pretty tight for film of this high speed. Shot with minolta xg-m and minolta 50mm f1.4 on Kodak ultramax 800 dated 2017 shot a stop over Home developed in Patterson hand tank with Unicolor C41 kit Scanned at home on Epson 4990
