…I was getting ready to post about…

I was getting ready to post about how I had decided from now on to take all my c41 to labs for dev and scan and just stick to b&w and e6 for home dev and scan in the future. Mainly after I had struggled to scan the first of the 7 rolls of the c41 I had dev’d the other night. I was worried when the negs had come out a bit dark, which is often the case for the first roll in the unicolor kits for me I find. For two nights I persisted, then during the day today I decided to skip that roll and move onto the next since all the rest of the rolls seemed fine. The next roll (kodak ultramax 800) came out perfect, as did the next, which turned out to be the test roll I had put through the Ricoh singlex TLS I had posted about earlier. The on which I had cleaned up, put new seals in etc. It is a fantastic M42 screw mount mechanical SLR with a built in light meter, that seems as of now to be in perfect working order.

…Melbourne trip 2013… an eerie recollection

How can you not love the street art of Melbourne?
How can you not love the street art of Melbourne?

Having posted the photos from our recent Melbourne trip yesterday, it reminded me that I had never actually posted my snaps from the last time I went to Melbourne in 2013 as part of a work trip. It’s quite trippy how reminiscent both sets of images are I think. I only got a couple of hours to walk the streets on my own with my cam to make the most of it. I do not remember all the stories that go with these now, so instead will allow the images to speak for themselves. I hope you enjoy. 🙂

All images were taken on little sony Nex5n with my voigtlander 35mm 1.4, Jupiter 8 50mm f2 or Spiratone 20mm f2.8 manual focus lenses.

Melbourne in December…beautiful!

I have done rather limited traveling in my adult life. In fact I have never really been on a proper trip in my adult life other than for work. Which was also to Melbourne a few years back. (I still need to post those pics actually. haha) Ever since I was determined to go back and take my girl with me.

Ok, so it’s now 2016…

….and life has been crazy the last few years. Bands have broken up, bought a house, got engaged, done some traveling etc. etc. and all the while life got so crazy that I neglected some of my most favorite things. Like my little photography blog…

Well it’s 2016, a new year with a new outlook, time to get back to enjoying this life more. 🙂

Sony Nex Fullframe announcement date released!!!

I first off have to thank Sony alpha rumors for keeping us all up to date please check their post here: http://www.sonyalpharumors.com/sr4-nex-ff-camera-to-be-announced-on-september-24-tomorrow-zeiss-lens-specs/

My dreams are coming true. I have said it was coming for almost three years now since I first got my Sony Nex5, people have naysayed me, but I stayed true to my belief. I have invested in the Sony Nex system on this belief that it was coming and now finally we have an official date for the announcement of it’s release. Yes, that’s right, the Sony Nex full frame is coming and Sony have set the date to tell us all about it. We still have to wait a bit, but the date to watch out for is September 24th. Knowing Sony and their penchant for the theatrical, I have a funny feeling this date has more meaning to it than just being a date. I like to believe that they set the 24th as this new camera is going to have a 24 mega pixel full frame sensor. Now this is nothing but a hunch, but I would be very happy if it turned out to be true. So it is time to start saving for those who are as interested in this camera as I am. I have been saving all year and will now commit to saving the final amount. Sony if you are listening, I would be very happy if I had the opportunity to be one of the first purchasers as it would be like a dream come true if I could be among the first in the world to review what will surely be the camera that changes the game.

Along with this news, apparently tomorrow Sony Alpha Rumors will  be releasing the specs for the new Zeiss full frame e-mount lenses they have been designing and producing to go along with the release of this new fullframe nex. Make sure you keep an eye on their site for more details. I know I surely will.

I will post again when I have more details, but for now I am over the moon, my dream camera is coming. Till then, happy snapping. 🙂

city views – Minolta 28mm f2.8 on nex5n, 21 image stitch

This shot was taken on my recently acquired Minolta 28mm f2 lens. I bought this lens as fast wide to mainly shoot live bands in lowlight but have just been starting to test it. It seems to be a reasonable performer, but what I like most about this shot is the fact that it shows both river shores on either side of me. This is a 21 image stitch shot in a grid.

Perth city on zeiss planar 50 1.7 with nex5n, 11 image stitch

This shot was taken taken using my Carl Zeiss 50mm f1.7 planar manual focus lens on my little sony nex5n. I have had this lens a while and really like it’s sharpness and colours, however I do find it suffers a little from CA. I like all the detail in the building in this shot. This is an 11 image stitch from left to right.

Perth city walkers – Minolta 21mm f2.8 on Nex5n, 7 image stitch

This first shot is a 7 image stitch taken with my recently acquired Minolta 21mm f2.8 manual focus lens on Nex5n. I love that I managed to get the walkers in this stitch. I really like this lens, it gives you a very wide feel yet still maintains straight lines. This shot was taken earlier in the morning around 9.30am.

Cockman Downs – Voigtlander 35mm f1.4 on Nex5n Four image HDR, cockman house

I took this while out on a walk in the parklands near Cockman house in Wanneroo on my Sony nex5n with my Voigtlander 35mm f1.4 manual focus lens.  This is a HDR merged with Nik HDR fx pro.

This is four exposures shot freehand with about 1ev stop of difference between each exposure.
